Replacing a Drive Prior to Failure

 This guide is for TrueNAS Cobia 

 

 Attach the new drive to the system 

 Navigate to Storage > Pool > Manage Devices > Click on the VDEV containing the disk you want to replace > Select the disk > Select the Replace option > Select the new disk 

 Wait for the resilver process to complete 

 Run a full scrub of the pool 

 Shut down the system 

 Remove the old disk 

 Start the system again
