# Replacing a Drive Prior to Failure

This guide is for TrueNAS Cobia

- Attach the new drive to the system
- Navigate to Storage &gt; Pool &gt; Manage Devices &gt; Click on the VDEV containing the disk you want to replace &gt; Select the disk &gt; Select the Replace option &gt; Select the new disk
- Wait for the resilver process to complete
- Run a full scrub of the pool
- Shut down the system
- Remove the old disk
- Start the system again
